Did you know that longcase clocks can be called a “grandfather,” “grandmother,” or a “granddaughter” clock? The way to differentiate the names is by their size. If a longcase clock is smaller than 5 ft. it is called a granddaughter clock; over 5 ft. is called a grandmother clock; and over 6 ft. is called a grandfather clock.
