I had the pleasure of attending a lecture by Mr. Tom Lauhon, a retired home inspector with a wealth of experience in the industry. It was truly valuable hearing him share his insights and lessons learned from years of working with both buyers and sellers.

Tom’s perspective and willingness to pass along his knowledge are a great reminder of how important experience and mentorship are in this profession. His stories and advice highlighted the importance of clear communication, professionalism, and helping clients make informed decisions.

Thank you, Tom, for taking the time to share your experience with the next generation of inspectors. It was an excellent presentation and greatly appreciated.

He informed me that there will be a follow-up lecture in the weeks to come. I highly recommend that anyone interested in buying or selling a home attend. See y'all there!

Having a great time today at the Kansas City Kansas Community College Career Fair! It’s been awesome meeting so many motivated students and talking about opportunities in the housing and construction industry.

I’m currently looking for summer interns. It’s a paid, hands-on opportunity to learn about residential building systems, property inspections, and real-world housing operations.

A recent home inspection came with an unexpected “helper”. While checking the crawlspace, I discovered a very fluffy, very confident cat, who apparently believed the property already belonged to him.

No major structural issues found - just one slightly offended feline, who did not appreciate my flashlight technique. 😼

Moral of the story: You never know what you’ll find during a home inspection. From plumbing leaks to four legged squatters, we check it all so you don’t have to crawl under there yourself.
