Tie-dye, community, and good vibes — that’s what Capital Hippie is all about.

Laura Castle has been wearing tie-dye clothing since middle school, but when she couldn’t find any of that classic vibrancy in size XL, she began making them for herself. Soon after, her friends caught wind and became her first customers. Then Laura was selling tie-dye out of the trunk of her car. Then she was a vendor at Afterglow Market and Middle Village Micro Market. Now, Capital Hippie has its very own space in Downtown Lansing.

“I want everyone to feel welcome, and I want the shop to lift everyone up when they come in!” says Laura. “Then when people leave they’ll take that good mood and high vibration and spread it to their household, their neighborhood, and everywhere they go.”

Laura loves Lansing for its energy and all the things happening here. Moores Park, Vintage Junkies, and La cocina cubana LLC are some of her many favorite hangs. As a self-proclaimed hippie, she’s always chasing live music and envisions even more shows, festivals, and artists coming to Lansing in the future.
