Hello Lansing!
You’ve been asking who’s behind 820 W. Miller?
It’s us: James & Melissa. (This picture may look simple, but it marks the first day of the rest of our lives)

Two Southside kids who grew up here, who turned hustle into oxygen and vision into a plan.

James is the quiet storm. The one who sees what nobody else can. Always three steps ahead, sees the whole court, and is always building. He sees opportunities where others see roadblocks.

Melissa is the loud heart who is passionate and moves fast. The one who jumps first and figures it out midair. She’s not afraid to shake the room if it means progress.

This project created:
• Lawyers without a license ⚖️
• Contractors without the crew 🛠️
• Bookkeepers with receipts stuffed in the glovebox 🧾
• Painters with the wrong shoes 🎨
• Landscapers who didn’t finish the job 🌱
• Parents who can discuss plans while toddlers sing “Let it Go” on repeat in the background 🎶
• Spreadsheets that turned into battlefields, then back into Pro Formas 📊

This project gave us an anchor. It held us through storms, tested our patience, sharpened our discipline, and reminded us daily that visions don’t come to fruition in comfort zones.

We’ve had “romantic evenings” eating fast food in the parking lot, while discussing solutions
Argued over paint colors like it was politics
Blasted music while painting until 3 AM, and going to our regular jobs the next morning because we didn’t have options.

If you’re trying to imagine us, don’t picture suits and polished speeches.
Think Pinky & the Brain with a toolbox 🧰.
Batman & Catwoman covered in dust 🦇🐾, carrying sippy cups and diaper bags.

Four years in, and this project hasn’t just tested us; it has molded us. It has strengthened our partnership, stretched our limits, and forced us to elevate in ways we weren’t prepared for.

This is more than a building
It’s sacrifice 💪

It’s two people proving that ordinary doesn’t mean average 🌟
It’s two people betting on themselves - every single day 🎯

We’re proud to share that our Brownfield Plan for 820 W. Miller received final approval from Lansing City Council yesterday.

This is a major milestone, and we’re incredibly grateful for the continued support from the community, city leadership, and everyone who believes in the long-term vision for this redevelopment.

A heartfelt thank you to Mitch Rice, a local resident we met at a constituent meeting, who has believed in this project from the very beginning and took the time to submit a letter of support. Your encouragement means so much and truly reflects the heart of what this is all about - community.

We also want to recognize Councilmember Adam Hussain for consistently uplifting us as emerging developers. He has been a steady voice, engaging both supporters and those with concerns, and reinforcing the importance and potential of this project. His leadership and commitment to seeing this transformation through have not gone unnoticed, and we truly appreciate him standing with us every step of the way.

The plan will now move on to the state for final approval. We will continue to keep you updated as we take the next steps.

While the planning and coordination for the redevelopment are already well underway, we recognize that some may operate a business or provide a professional service they believe could be relevant.

✨ We’ve reached another milestone! Our Brownfield Plan has just received final approval from the Development and Planning Board.

Next, we’re heading to the City Council for the final approval on Monday, July 28. This brings us one step closer to realizing our vision for 820 W. Miller.

We want to express our gratitude to everyone who has supported this project, offered encouragement, and believed in what we are building.

Thank you for helping us transform a long-blighted property into something that will serve and uplift our community.

Big news! We presented our Brownfield Plan to Lansing City Council last night and it was officially met with support!

The Mayor and Councilmembers showed real enthusiasm for our vision at 820 W. Miller, and we’re incredibly grateful for their time, insight, and backing.

The plan is now scheduled for the next public meeting for community comment, and we hope to have the continued support of our neighbors and local community. Your voices matter, and this next step is a chance for everyone to be heard.
