City of Laredo Issues Warning to Anyone Who Has Tested Positive for COVID-19
Positive persons must stay home and cooperate with local health officials or face consequences
LAREDO, Texas—Pursuant to Section 14 of the City of Laredo’s Emergency Ordinance, City Manager Robert A. Eads has issued an advisory to anyone who has tested positive for COVID-19, and who has not subsequently tested negative, that they are required to isolate themselves from other people until they receive a negative result. Asymptomatic members of the household shall not leave their home until the member of the household who tested positive is no longer required to isolate.
FAILURE TO DO SO IS A CRIMINAL OFFENSE.
Section 81.085 (h) of the Texas Health and Safety Code provides:
A person commits an offense if the person knowingly fails or refuses to obey a rule, order, or instruction of the department or an order or instruction of a health authority issued under a department rule and published during an area quarantine under this section. An offense under this subsection is a felony of the third degree.
In order to protect the community and stop the spread of COVID-19 in the City of Laredo, officials are commanding cooperation from all persons who have contracted the virus that they follow through with the prescribed health precautions as well as contact tracing efforts from public health investigators.
