🎃👻 Haunted House Season: Do Sellers Have to Disclose if a Home Is Haunted? 👻🎃
It’s that time of year when ghost stories make their way into real estate! So here’s a timely question — does a Seller have to tell you if a house is haunted?
In Maryland, the answer is no.
➡️ There’s no legal requirement for Sellers to disclose if a home was the site of a death, crime, or paranormal activity. These are known as stigmatized properties and they’re not considered “material facts” that must be shared.
➡️ If there is a safety or structural issue — that must be disclosed.
🎃 Buyer tip: If property condition or a potential repair concerns you about a home you're considering, just ask!
🏠 Seller tip: Being upfront about known defects can prevent surprises later — and that’s always less scary than a deal gone wrong.
Happy house hunting — may all your offers be boo-tiful! 🕯️👻
