🔍 Oooooo pretty colors! These photos were taken with a Flir camera, the technology we use as home inspectors to get an even more detailed look at a property. There are several ways thermal imaging can be an extremely useful tool:
Detecting Moisture Intrusion: Thermal cameras can help identify cool spots indicating water leaks in walls, ceilings, or roofs. This may help identify existing or prevent possible future damage.
Locating Insulation Issues: Inspectors can spot areas of missing, damaged, or settled insulation, as these areas will appear warmer or cooler than surrounding areas, indicating energy efficiency issues.
Identifying Electrical Hotspots: The images can show dangerous, overloaded circuits, failing breakers, or loose wiring which appear as hot spots in electrical panels.
HVAC and Airflow Analysis: Color differences may indicate duct leaks, blocked vents, and inefficient heating/cooling performance.
