Looking for an easy hike filled with history?

Dripping Springs Guided Hike
Saturday, April 18
9–11:30 a.m.
Join Bureau of Land Management Archaeologist, Garrett Leitermann, for a hike that will have you stepping into the past at the Dripping Springs Natural Area. Come learn about the history of our area, the life and achievements of Colonel Eugene Van Patten, and how Dripping Springs grew to become a popular getaway and health resort for those seeking "the mountain cure."

Dogs are not allowed on the hike.

Prospective attendees for the hike should meet in front of Dripping Springs Natural Area's Visitor Center. Remember to dress appropriately for the weather and bring water, snacks, a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, and good hiking shoes. The hike will be approximately 3 hours and is relatively easy. The hike will stay on established trails. There is a $5 day use fee for visiting Dripping Springs Natural Area.

This is a great adventure waiting for you in our own backyard

To kick off the New Year our Discovery Site Guided Hikes at the Prehistoric Trackways National Monument are returning! Come join us this Saturday, January 17th at 9 a.m.
See our world-renowned track and trail fossils made by early amphibians and insects that inhabited the Las Cruces area before the dinosaurs, 294 million years ago! Leading the hike will be BLM Las Cruces District Paleontologist, Colin R. Dunn.
Be prepared to hike approximately 2.9 miles on both trails and rough and rocky terrain in a natural arroyo/canyon. Bring plenty of water, sun protection, and appropriate footwear.
You will find us at the Ridgeline Trailhead (the 1st small parking lot with the Kiosks and near the Monument portal sign). You can arrive at the monument by heading west from the intersection of Shalem Colony Trail and Rocky Acres Trail. Then in about 1/4 mile take a dirt road on the left labeled as Permian Acres.
