Some days remind you what really matters. ❤️⚾️

Watching Bobby out on that field, with his brother and sister right there beside him, running with him and cheering him on, while I’m on the sidelines cheering loud enough to make sure he knows his mama is there… these are the moments I hold onto.

Today felt like such a full-circle moment for me. I’ve been out there as Bobby’s mom since his very first year, only missing last season because of some health challenges he was going through.

And this year, we came back. ❤️

But this time, I didn’t just get to come back as his mom. I also got to come back as a sponsor through Martos Heart & Homes.

There’s something pretty special about being able to give back to something that has given our family so many wonderful memories over the years. Today I was proud. Proud to be his mom. Proud to be a sponsor. And just really happy to be back.

And that smile? That pretty much says it all. ❤️

And can we also give Marci Dickerson a round of applause? 👏❤️ This woman wears so many hats, and somehow she just keeps showing up and making things happen. Warrior League is just one of the many things she pours her heart into. 🍯 Hey, need plans for tomorrow morning? Head downtown to the farmers market, and while you’re there, make sure you stop by and see our friend Andres for some wonderful local honey! 🐝

We first met Andres years ago at the farmers market, and over time, he became our friend. He is such a wonderful person. His daughters were young when we first met him, and through the years, we have watched them grow up and help their dad with the family business.

For the longest time, Andres only accepted cash, but his daughters brought him up to speed, and now they accept debit cards too, which is fantastic!

His honey is wonderful, and you have to try the honey sticks! We bought some a couple of Saturdays ago, and they were so good.

You’ll find Andres near Grounded. If you’re facing Grounded, look to your left. Stop by, say hello, and support this wonderful local family business! 🍯💛

At Martos Heart & Homes, we talk about houses and finding home. But the greatest treasures are the beautiful souls who make a house feel like home. For our family, one was Guapa.

Last night, we said goodbye to our beloved Guapa, also known as Honey, Tom Tom, our little chinchilla, and the softest kitty in the world. She belonged to our family, but she was also my girl.

Guapa had the sweetest ways of loving me. She wrapped herself around my feet like a hug. If I worked too long, she reached up with her little right paw and tapped my left shoulder, as if saying, “Mom, that’s enough now.” She always found a way to reach me.

Even at the end, her little body was tired, but her spirit was strong. Dr. Carver said Guapa had been holding on, then spoke the words that went straight to my heart: “She wants you to give her permission to go. She’s worried about her Mama and how sad she’ll be.”

I immediately gave my girl permission to go. Soon afterward, she left us peacefully and quietly, just as sweetly as she had entered our lives.

I miss her more than I can express. My mind understands she has died, but my heart and body have not caught up. I still feel I should watch her, listen for her breathing, and hold vigil. I know that will take time.

A home is more than walls. It is love, memories, little paws reaching for us, and beautiful souls whose imprint remains in every room and forever in our hearts. Our home will never feel the same without Guapa, but she will always be part of its story and ours.

Rest peacefully, my beautiful girl. Thank you for choosing us, loving our family, and loving your mom so very well. 🤍🐾

A little look back at a very special Saturday! 🩷

This was the Las Cruces Museum System’s first-ever Grief & Safety Resource Fair, and Desert Blooms Grief Center was honored to be part of it.

For those who may not be familiar with Desert Blooms, it provides grief support for children, teens, and their caregivers right here in Las Cruces. No child or family should ever feel like they have to walk through the loss of someone they love alone.

I began my training with Desert Blooms in March and started serving families in April as a volunteer grief facilitator. This is still a new chapter in my life, but it has already become something incredibly meaningful and very close to my heart.

Take a look at this beautiful day of connecting with our community, sharing important resources, and reminding families that support is available. And how wonderful is it that the Grief & Safety Resource Fair will return next August? 🌵🩷
