The last decade of my life in one picture.
I finally retired the BEST target purchase of my life. This bag has witnessed me as a new grad student, a new wife, a new employee, a new mom, a new resident (a few times), a first time pilot wife, a first time conference attendee, a first time reader for myself, and so much more.
Everything I’ve built in the last 10 years fits in ONE picture.
In the last 10 years, I’ve:
Worked for Halliburton
Closed over $13M in real estate
Earned a master’s degree in engineering
Lived in 3 states
Had 4 kids (nursed them all 🥳🥳 Top accomplishment)
Worked for Sinclair Oil and Gas
Owned ~40 apartment units (not all at once 😅)
Started a company and built a team of 20
Saw the power of an F-35 up close
Lived through an earthquake, COVID, countless deals, diapers, laptops, and late nights
And somehow, that ALL fits here 🤯
Keys to our spa: the day we said yes to something new
Keys to our biggest deal: proof that risk can pay off
Flash drives of sewer scopes: the not so glam side of real estate
A hair tie and lip gloss: because life doesn’t pause
The Sinclair dino: learning business beyond engineering
Earplugs: for jet engines
An eraser: for every math mistake I had to solve through
A Halliburton flask drive: where it all started. (Thanks, Brad 😂😂)
And a book: because I’m FAILING daily (First Attempt In Learning)
The book I’m reading right now talks about perspective.
How small we are in the grand scheme of everything.
How the universe keeps going whether we do or not.
And standing here looking at this very SMALL picture of what felt like a full lifetime, I get it.
It was small.
But instead of making it feel insignificant, it makes me realize how much more is still possible.
If this is what 10 years can hold…what could the next 10 look like?
So I challenge to you to find one thing that represents each year of the last 10 years of your life and take a picture.
Then zoom out.
You’ll see how much space you still have left to grow.
Some days are heavy. Some days you want to quit. Some seasons stretch you thin. But tomorrow always comes.
P.S. happy Earth Day 🌎
