Ghost Town In Nelson

Watch This Video Of The Wild Wild West In Nevada! Experience The Feel Of Life In The Gold Mining Days At A Real Ghost Town.
Nelson, a Ghost Town, is located along Nevada State Route 165, about 8 miles southeast of its junction with U.S. Route 95. Route 165 continues east 5 miles to a dead end at Nelsons Landing on the Colorado River, 18 miles by water north of Cottonwood Cove on Lake Mojave. Nelson is about 25 miles from Boulder City by road.
The area known as Nelson was originally called Eldorado in 1775, by the Spaniards who made the original discoveries of gold in the area that is now Eldorado Canyon. The town was the site of one of the first major gold strikes in Nevada and one of the biggest mining booms in state history.
Gold and silver were discovered here around 1859. The rush to the canyon began in 1861, several mining camps were established in the canyon, and a steamboat landing at the mouth of the canyon on the Colorado River, called Colorado City.
The community called Nelson was named for Charles Nelson, a camp leader who was slain in his home, along with four other people, in 1897 by the renegade Indian, Avote.
Nelson Ghost Town is one of the most popular locations for beautiful weddings and incredible photography. Set in the midst of nature with a backdrop of mountains and desert, this secluded location creates an ambiance of romance and bliss for your big day.
Nelson Ghost Town is filled with vintage structures and artifacts, perfect for your first photos as a married couple. Pose in front of the rustic fence or in the bed of an antique vintage truck.

Downtown Las Vegas

Downtown Las Vegas is the city's central business district and was once its core gaming district too, prior to the development of The Strip.
Downtown is part of a revitalization effort and is soon to be home to Symphony Park, one of the largest urban redevelopments in the country.
Currently being developed by the City of Las Vegas, this 61-acre mixed-use urban community will be located in the heart of Downtown.
This new community is home to some of Las Vegas’ largest economic, cultural, and civic projects, including a park of the same name, Symphony Park, the two-acre open space core. The $6 billion project is also a green development, with all buildings expected to follow LEED construction guidelines.

“Living the Las Vegas Desert Dream”

Las Vegas’s climate, as an arid desert, is just what you would expect. It can be wonderful and harsh, both at the same time.

Living in Las Vegas means embracing the desert in all its extremes — and discovering that those contrasts are part of what makes the city so fascinating. The climate is famously dry and sunny: more than 310 days of sunshine every year give the city its golden glow. Summers can be sizzling, with temperatures often climbing above 105 °F (40 °C), but the air is so dry that mornings and evenings bring a pleasant warmth perfect for walks, barbecues, or a dip in the pool under a glowing sunset.

Winters are mild and inviting, rarely cold enough for heavy jackets. Daytime temperatures often linger in the 60s °F (around 18 °C), making it ideal for hiking in Red Rock Canyon, exploring the Strip, or simply enjoying coffee on the patio. The lack of humidity makes even hot days surprisingly tolerable — and it keeps your hair in perfect shape all year long!

Because rain is rare (only about 4 inches per year), outdoor plans almost never get canceled. Locals adapt to the heat with ease: early mornings are for jogs and dog walks, while the afternoons belong to air-conditioned comfort — cool homes, vibrant restaurants, and world-class entertainment venues.

Living here also encourages a sustainable mindset. Water conservation has become part of the city’s identity, with beautiful desert landscaping — think cacti, succulents, and colorful stones — replacing traditional lawns. The result is a clean, modern, and eco-friendly cityscape that blends perfectly with the surrounding Mojave Desert.

Despite the heat, Las Vegas feels alive at every hour. Nights bring cooler air and endless activity: from glowing casinos and rooftop bars to desert stars shining over quiet suburbs. The city offers a rare balance — the excitement of one of the world’s most dynamic cities, paired with the peace and vastness of the desert.

For many, life in Las Vegas isn’t just about living in the desert — it’s about thriving in it. The sunlight, the energy, and the sense of freedom make it an unforgettable place to call home.
