Here we go. On my way for a double mastectomy. I was diagnosed with breast cancer back in March. But my story started when listening to on last Fourth of July while running in the strand in pacific beach. Her story stayed in my brain and didn’t leave. In September I found a lump and immediately went for a mammogram and ultra sound (yes I do mammograms yearly)They didn’t see anything of significance so I went in with my day. But that story by Olivia stuck in my brain. I went to my OB and said I want genetic testing, and it came back high risk for breast cancer, but no genetic mutation. I then said I want an MRI because if the high risk, the lump, and having dense breast tissue. I got the mri and it lit up , then I got a biopsy mri and it came back as cancer. I have invasive ductal carcinoma in the right breast, I am ER/PR+ Her2-. The plan for now is double mastecomy(I elected to do both now and work in recovery and reconstruction. ) Aside from hormone therapy, I don’t have a plan beyond the mastectomy and reconstruction. Wish me luck for good surgery, pathology, and reconstruction and recovery. Advocate for yourselves! ❤️
