One major misconception many people have is that Real Estate agents receive hourly pay from the brokerage company they work for... not so.
Truth: Agents are actually commission based & only receive earnings if they see a transaction through to the very end, fully complete. This means your agent may have put weeks or even months worth of work in for you by the time they get paid. Many times this involves things totally unrelated to the transaction or scope of work we’re expected to do. I’ve known agents who helped struggling clients with packing, moving, cleaning, landscaping, babysitting, or even running errands —at no cost to the client— totally above and beyond the job description. Show your agent some love, he or she works very hard for you and your family 💛
Real Estate agents can actually save you so much time & possibly thousands of dollars by constantly looking out for your best interests and advising you accordingly —this means helping you avoid situations that could potentially lead to your involvement in lawsuits or costly repairs. Maybe keep this in mind the next time you consider negotiating down your agents commission fee 😉
People often ask agents to “look something up” with no intention of actually engaging in a RE transaction not realizing that information is not always readily available but may sometimes require hours of research. If the research isn’t eventually followed by a transaction the agent may have put in hours worth of work with no pay. Most good agents won’t complain, they’ll diligently do the work for you hoping that when you are ready to enter a transaction, you’ll turn to them for representation. 😊 Just thought I’d share out of appreciation for my fellow agents and the things we do for our communities.
