This page is dedicated to helping people decide if retiring in the Las Vegas area will make sense for them and their families. We have many great communities close to shopping, restaurants, recreation and a low cost of living that helps to give people the opportunity to enjoy life. Most people initially think of Las Vegas as a vacation spot (and it certainly has plenty to offer in that regard!), but it also has lots of options for people living here year around. We have many resort-like communities that have lots of amenities- swimming pools, spas, fitness centers, racquetball, tennis, walking and bike trails are just a start. You can choose from single story homes in 55+ communities or in a standard development, a 2 story with master bedroom on the first floor, condominiums, townhomes with private yards, and even homes designed for multi-generations living under one roof. Most homes are 20 minutes or less from the strip if you want to catch a good show or enjoy a buffet. We are close to the Grand Canyon, Zion Canyon, Lake Meade, Hoover Dam and many other tourist destinations. If your family and friends are elsewhere, Las Vegas is an easy place to visit with flights coming and going every day. Vegas is a great place to live. As a local, though, the strip is not something we tend to visit often. While great for an occasional treat, it is crowded and expensive. Vegas has lots of alternatives - great restaurants and venues all over town.

I often go the The Smith Center. Convenient location 20 min from my home, reasonable parking garage next door (my last visit was $6), and great shows that don't break the bank. This show was John Pizzarelli and was fantastic. Myron's has a night club atmosphere and discreet waitstaff to order drinks and food during the show. Have also enjoyed broadway shows, ballet, musicals, symphonies and plays in the other sections of the center.

Thinking of moving to Las Vegas? When I first moved here, I had no idea there were so many trails in the area. All over Las Vegas, North Las Vegas, and Henderson there are well marked and maintained trails of every difficulty. Some paved, some gravel, some w benches to rest, some with steep inclines and places to do rock climbing. This is Lee Canyon- I often go to the higher altitude since the temperature is cooler there in the warmer months. (It was 59 degrees here last week). Las Vegas is a lot more than the strip. :)
