🚨 Land Movement Increasing in Rancho Palos Verdes After Recent Rainfall

Recent rainfall is accelerating land movement in parts of Rancho Palos Verdes — particularly the Portuguese Bend landslide area, where the ground has been slowly shifting for years.

According to city officials, movement has recently increased to about 2 inches per week in some areas, up from roughly 1.7 inches per week on average.

This isn’t a new issue, but heavy rain in 2022 and 2023 dramatically sped up the slide, with some locations previously shifting as much as a foot per week.
