San Diego Eviction Immunity ⁉️
The negative effect coronavirus has imposed on the economy, has driven an awareness to protect those threatened with eviction.
As workers in travel, hospitality and other parts of the economy have been faced with drastic loss of income, housing advocates are calling on San Diego elected leaders to protect low income renters.
During this time where quarantine is becoming a near necessity, the importance of shelter is only magnified. Evictions would only reverse the protective measures that are being taken to subside this virus.
An emergency fund for nonprofits has been announced to help provide assistance for those in need.
San Jose City Council has already put a temporary freeze on rental evictions, with the possibility of providing small businesses with the same immunity. Los Angeles followed shortly behind.
A letter has been sent to San Diego City Council President requesting a hearing to extend the same moratorium.
