Bally's says it's "close" to funding the first piece of the entertainment district planned around the Las Vegas Athletics' new ballpark on the Strip.

It's the northwest podium, the dining-and-drinks plaza that's supposed to be ready before the spring 2028 opener.

For scale: that's the podium. Not the hotel, not the casino, not the 2,500-seat theater — those are all "future phases" of the $1.1 billion project.

The part they're close to funding is basically a food court with a view.

Meanwhile, the A's have quietly drawn up a Plan B where the stadium opens with a temporary plaza and a bank of escalators bolted to the side, because they're apparently not staking Opening Day on Bally's timeline.

Permits for that backup plaza are due in September.

The ballpark itself is moving right along — all four levels framed, roof arches going up, north of $400 million already spent.

The $2 billion stadium is real. The billion-dollar party around it is currently a rendering and a strong feeling.

The A's $2 billion ballpark continues to rise on the 33,000-fan capacity facility starting to fit in with the already visually impressive skyline of the Las Vegas Strip one year after ground was broken on the project.
