I received that text today while driving to my next appointment.
Most people probably don’t know this about me, but I drive in silence a lot.
No radio. No podcast. No music.
My days are filled with conversations, negotiations, phone calls, problems to solve, people who need answers, and a lot of energy being poured outward. So when I’m alone in my car.. with no kids and no phone call coming through, I often choose silence.
That’s where I think.
I think about the appointment I just left. The one I’m heading to. The contingency deadline coming up. The seller whose home was shown yesterday but didn’t get an offer. The buyer I’m trying to get across the finish line. The conversation I need to have. The problem I haven’t figured out yet.
And today, I thought about that text. After 9½ years in real estate, you would think I’d have thicker skin.
Maybe someday the words “we want to go in a different direction” won’t sting.
Today, they still did.
It feels strangely similar to getting dumped. You immediately start replaying everything.
What did I miss?
What could I have done differently?
Did I communicate enough?
Did they trust me?
Did they respect my expertise?
Where did I fall short?
Because behind the scenes, this job is so much less glamorous than television makes it look.
Our phones ring on Christmas. During our kids’ birthdays. On anniversaries. Early in the morning and late at night. Sometimes someone forgets they’re three hours ahead and your phone starts ringing before the sun comes up.
And somehow, we’re expected to know everything, fix everything, anticipate everything and never have an off day.
The last couple of years have made that weight feel even heavier.
This market hasn’t always been kind to sellers.
There is a particular kind of disappointment that comes with calling a seller week after week and saying, “We still don’t have an offer.”

My beautiful little (much taller) sister… my built-in best friend since I was 4 ½ years old 🤍 From the moment she came into this world, she has been part of almost every memory, every milestone, every laugh, every tear, and every season of my life.
This year has been so special getting to experience wedding season together 🥹 Watching my little sister become a wife in December 2025 after walking through my own wedding season at the same time is something I will forever cherish. There is just something incredibly special about getting to do life alongside your sister not only as siblings… but genuinely as best friends.
More than anyone, Stephanie knows every version of me — the good, the bad, and the ugly 😂 She has seen the behind-the-scenes moments no one else has and somehow still chooses to love me with grace, understanding, patience, and loyalty. That kind of love is such a blessing.
One of my favorite things about our relationship as adults is that we choose each other. We are each other’s go-to not because we have to be because we are sisters, but because we truly want that friendship with each other. Through every phase of life, she has remained one of my safest places.
I already know one day we are going to be the little old lady sisters sitting on a porch together in our 90s talking about the weather, quoting random movie lines from our childhood that nobody else understands, and laughing at stories we’ve told 500 times before 😂
Stephanie is truly the Nurturer of my soul. Kind, thoughtful, gentle, sweet, and always considering everyone around her. She has the softest heart and loves people so intentionally.

My best friend since I was 18… one of those rare friendships that has truly survived almost every season of life imaginable. We met at one of my first “big girl” jobs working together at a salon and somehow from that moment on, life just kept intertwining our stories together.
She has been beside me through becoming a mom at 20 with Arey, us being pregnant together with Raelynn and Wylan, having Carter, marriages, divorces x2 🫣, rebuilding, heartbreak, healing, and so much life in between. There are very few people who can say they have seen almost every version of you… and loved you through every single one anyway. Gabrielle is one of those people for me.
At some of the absolute lowest points in my life, she showed up for me with grace, kindness, love, and zero judgment. She gave me a safe place to land when I needed it most, helped me get back on my feet, and reminded me of who I was when I was struggling to see it myself. That kind of friendship is rare and something I will never stop being grateful for.
We share a love for baking, for family, for the Lord, and for creating warmth wherever we go. Some of my favorite memories are the simple ones baking together, talking about life, laughing until we cry, and just existing in the comfort of a friendship that has always felt true and pure. She is also the one who keeps my hair beautiful and somehow always makes me look my best no matter what season of life I’m in 💇🏼‍♀️🤍
Gabrielle is truly the Pure Heart of my friend group. Warm, kind, incredibly supportive, and the kind of person who makes people feel safe just by being around her.

My newest best friend since 2023… proof that real estate really does bring people together 😂 We were introduced through work and spent a year getting to work side by side before realizing we were probably way too similar for society’s safety. From day one it was endless laughs, tea dropping, lunch dates, holiday parties, random adventures, and the kind of friendship where you somehow leave every hang out with both life advice and new gossip 🫣
We really thought we were out here playing matchmaker trying to set up our siblings… spoiler alert: that did NOT work out 😂 Stephanie got married to a man named Erich instead 🤪 But honestly the failed matchmaking attempt somehow just made the friendship even funnier.
Jessica is the friend you call for literally anything — fun outings, needed girl days, spontaneous plans, good food, travel talks, and our forever “we should just book the trip” conversations. She is absolutely down for anything… as long as she’s actually in town 😂
She is also hands down the BEST secret keeper. Not only does she know the tea, she remembers the storyline we rehearsed and will stay committed to it till the end 💀 If you need someone to immediately dislike a person because they wronged you? Congratulations, Jessica is your #1 draft pick. No hesitation. No questions asked.
Hilarious, giving, loyal, and direct in the best way possible — there is never any guessing where you stand with her and honestly that’s one of my favorite things about her. Plus every short girl needs a tall bestie to reach the top shelf, be the muscle of the friendship, and help intimidate people when necessary 😂

My best friend since right before Covid… who started as a real estate connection and somehow became one of the most important people in my life. From the second we met, it felt like we had known each other forever. Same humor, same chaos, same passion, same “we’ll figure it out” energy. She instantly became my right hand — for my clients, my team, my business, and honestly… for me.
She’s been there through the growth of Realty Rae Group, the systems, the stressful days, the victories, the tears, the vent sessions, and every “what the hell do we do now?” moment both professionally and personally. She’s also been my travel buddy through conferences, girls trips, and our slightly questionable international travel adventure 🫣 We can all thank Lindsey for making sure I safely returned to the United States and that I am not currently somewhere in Mexico working as a dishwasher for room and board 😂
Her personality is truly unmatched — easygoing, funny, loyal, go-with-the-flow energy… with just enough “might cut a bitch in workout gear” to keep life interesting. She’s the queen of inappropriate one-liners, the calm in the chaos, and somehow always the person holding the group together when things go sideways.
