Wrapped up a challenging closing recently.

This involved:
Seven people
Five companies
An untold number of calls, texts, emails, and WhatsApp messages for those who were traveling out of the country.

This count does not include the buyers or sellers who, to the best of our abilities, were shielded from the drama that transpired during the transaction.

As professionals, that is a big part of our job - being the calm, steady hand while - behind the scenes - things appear to be anything but.

I am so grateful to the folks at each of these companies who pulled together to ensure that we were all rowing in the same direction.

We made it through numerous pitfalls, confusion, miscommunication, and much more.

And that's why we're here! Who you work with matters.

I just got a call from someone who's moving to Fort Lauderdale; she is interested in one of my rental listings and they're coming to visit this weekend.

I asked if they have plans to see other places.

She said, "We're trying, but we've called a bunch and left voicemails and no one is calling us back."

This really grinds my gears, both because it reflects so poorly on our profession and because I suspect that the agents' clients have no idea that this is happening.

I try to keep quiet publicly about this, but this call sent me over the edge.

Agents: If you're not up to the job, go find another career. Calling people back who are interested in your property isn't optional.

Clients: Please be sure that you're working with someone who will do their very best every day.

Stepping off my soapbox now. Carry on.
