Beyond seeing who has the best poker face, the evening supports the Optimist Club’s work benefiting youth programs throughout Douglas County. And that’s something we’re always happy to get behind!

Some McGrew connections to Lawrence go back a long way.

John McGrew founded Outside for a Better Inside around a simple idea: kids need more opportunities to get outside, explore and experience nature.

That idea has grown into outdoor experiences for local children and butterfly gardens throughout the community, including the McGrew Family Butterfly Garden at KU.

This Saturday, Outside for a Better Inside is hosting Smorey Time at Prairie Park Nature Center: an evening of s'mores, stories, a bonfire and outdoor fun for kids and families.

We're proud of John's role in creating an organization that continues to give Lawrence kids more reasons to get outside.
