To everyone in the Facebook community who has a friend or family member in real estate — please take a moment to truly appreciate what they do for you. The time spent researching properties, scheduling showings, and navigating the market on your behalf is considerable, and much of it happens behind the scenes without recognition.
I understand the industry is competitive and agents are plentiful, but when someone who genuinely cares about you invests their time and energy into your success, that deserves respect. If you choose to bypass them mid-process, understand that what may feel like a minor decision to you could have a meaningful financial and personal impact on them.
It’s also worth considering that cutting out someone you trust often means handing double the commission to a complete stranger — someone with no personal investment in your outcome or your relationship.
Before you make that call, ask yourself whether it’s truly worth the cost — not just financially, but to the friendship itself. The people who care about you deserve better than to be an afterthought in a transaction they worked hard to make happen for you.
Also think about how it impacts you and your business. Especially if that person brought you a lot of business and would of continued to bring you business.
