I’ve lost 4 potential buyers this week….3 in florida and 1 in Wv because I asked for a pre approval. I not only do this so I know I’m not spinning my wheels, but also for safety measures. I’ve been in situations that were not good, and my gut kicked in. But I’m not stupid. I know that all I had to do was turn my back and I would have been taken over.

So when a realtor asks you for a pre approval before showing a home, it’s not because we think you can’t buy a home. So get over yourself, don’t take it personal with “I shouldn’t have to show you that in order to look at home”. Or “Do I look like I can’t buy a home?”

I’ve had a millionaire get out of his 1993 ford beat up truck looking like he hadn’t bathed and bought a 2.1 million dollar property….as well as a woman wearing a Rolex getting out of a Mercedes who ended up having a credit score of 480 and couldn’t buy a turnip off a turnip truck.

It’s not about you and how you appear or present yourself, or the fact that you think it’s OUR JOB to show houses. We are not tour guides. Our job is to show homes to QUALIFIED home buyers, and to also protect ourselves.
