After nearly 32 years of dedicated service, the Lee’s Summit Police Department proudly recognizes the retirement of Captain Mike Murray.
Throughout his distinguished career, Captain Murray served in Patrol, Investigations, Administration, and Special Operations, demonstrating exceptional leadership, sound judgment, and an unwavering commitment to both the department and the community. From his years with the Emergency Services Squad to his roles as a Field Training Officer, Academy Instructor, and Heartland Tactical Officers Association instructor, Murray helped shape and mentor generations of law enforcement professionals.
As an Officer, Sergeant, and Captain, he earned the respect of those around him as a trusted leader, mentor, and problem-solver. His knowledge, experience, and dedication made him an invaluable resource to officers, supervisors, command staff, and city leaders alike.
Perhaps Captain Murray’s greatest achievement is the lasting impact he had on people. He invested in the growth and success of others, taking pride in watching those he mentored develop into leaders themselves. The lessons he taught, the standards he upheld, and the example he set will continue to influence our department for years to come.
