💡 Tip Tuesday 227 | MOVING DAY! 📦🔧

Who needs screwdrivers or ladders when you can improvise?! 😂🪜

Was my drill sitting in my car? Absolutely. Was I going to walk all the way downstairs to get it? Absolutely NOT! 😂

So here I am, taking down the curtain rods and packing up my old office. Goodbye to my beautiful window that ACTUALLY OPENED! 🥹🪟

But hey, on to greener pastures! 🌿✨

🏢 RE/MAX Heritage has merged our Lee’s Summit office into our Blue Springs location! I’m moving upstairs into a slightly bigger office. No window this time, but I’ll survive. 😂

📦 GMWM Designs, our staging company, has moved to Blue Springs, too! Now everything is conveniently located in one area, just north of I-70.

New office. New chapter. Same stubborn Megan! 💪😂

Tip Tuesday 226 ✂️🏡

Sometimes you just have to CUT IT. 😂

Custom blinds are ordered. They’re coming. Everything is fine.

Except this oversized bamboo shade was driving me absolutely INSANE while I waited. 😂

Every time I opened the side door, it hit the handle, got caught, or tried to wedge itself between the door and the hinges.

So instead of being irritated by it for another few weeks…

✂️ I CUT IT TO FIT THE DOOR.

Temporary problem. Temporary solution. Sanity restored. 😂

And FYI, bamboo shades are WAY tougher to cut than they look. I tried the knife. I fought the bamboo. Just get the scissors. ✂️😂

Is it the permanent solution? Nope.
Are the custom blinds already ordered? Yep.
Am I going to let a $20 temporary shade annoy me every single day until they arrive? Absolutely not. 😂

Sometimes homeownership is less HGTV and more “Where are my scissors?” 🏡✂️

✨ SOLD! S O L D! ✨🏡🎉

Today was a SUPER special closing day. 🥹💕 After years of talking about Brookside, driving these streets, and looking at plenty of homes along the way, Haley finally found THE ONE! 🏡🔑✨

Haley, I am so incredibly happy and proud of you. We pulled off the move-up, sold your other home, and got you and little Biggie 🐶 into your beautiful new Brookside home! 🎉💕

But this one means so much more than a closing.

We went from working at a bank together, to college, to you watching me become a Dental Hygienist, become a “non-essential” Dental Hygienist, get laid off and basically have to pull a brand-new career out of thin air 😂, to building Go Move With Megan Realty Group from scratch.

And you believed in me through ALL of it. 🥹❤️

Six years later, I got the absolute honor of helping one of my dearest and longest-time friends sell one home and buy the home we’ve talked about finding for years. Never in my wildest dreams back in our bank and college days would I have pictured THIS moment. 🏡💕

🏡 ONE YEAR AGO TODAY… I BOUGHT THIS HOUSE! 🥹❤️

One year ago, I asked two friends to “come look at this house and give me your honest opinion.”

Little did they know… I HAD ALREADY BOUGHT IT. 😂 Their faces when I told them were absolutely priceless, and thankfully, I caught it on video. 🤣

So fair warning: if I ever ask you to “just come look at a house with me,” I may have already signed the paperwork. 😂🔑

Today officially marks ONE YEAR with my little Kansas City fixer upper! 🏡🔨 A LOT has been done, a LOT is still left to do, and there have definitely been a few “what did I get myself into?” moments along the way. 😂 But I’m so proud of how far we’ve come and incredibly thankful for everyone who has helped me get her here. ❤️

Unofficially, she dates back to 1927, although the records we have only go back to 1935. Either way, this old girl is knocking on 100 years, and we’re keeping her going for 100 more. 🥹🏡✨

Happy 1-year houseiversary to me! 🥂🔨❤️

💡 Tip Tuesday 225 🏠🔨

DON’T FORGET THE RAILING!

Stairs without a railing? Nope. We’re not letting that slide. 😂

Basement stairs, deck stairs, even those little porch steps can become a BIG safety issue. 🏠⚠️

And don’t forget the balusters! They generally need to be spaced so an opening is about 4 inches or less, helping keep little kiddos from squeezing through. 👶🏻

This staircase had a straight shot from the upper stairs to the basement floor. 😳

Good thing we caught it early! 🔨🪚 Plenty of time to get it fixed, make it safe AND give it a beautiful little glow-up. ✨

Safe house. Happy buyer. Happy family. 🏡❤️

Lesson learned: Don’t overlook your railings!
