Kansas City housing can look “cheap”… until you do the drive-time math. ⏰️⏰️

One of the biggest surprises for people relocating here is how fast “we’ll just go a little farther out” turns into a daily lifestyle change.

When you see a home that’s tens of thousands less, it’s tempting to call it a no-brainer. But if the trade-off is even 15–20 extra minutes each way, that’s not just an inconvenience. That’s hours of your year, every year, spent in the car. And it usually brings extra costs with it too, like higher fuel spend, more wear and tear, and sometimes higher insurance depending on the mileage and vehicle use.

I’m not saying “don’t move farther out.” Kansas City has a lot of great options across the metro. I’m saying price is only one part of affordability, and drive time is the sneaky part that people don’t calculate until they’re living it.
