MISSOURI RESIDENTS‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️
Effective TODAY January 1, 2026
New legislation, known as the "Disabled Veteran Property Tax Relief Act," will provide significant relief starting in the 2026 tax year.
100% Exemption: Veterans with a 100% service-connected disability rating from the VA will receive a 100% exemption on the tax assessed on their primary residence.
Proportional Exemptions: Veterans with lower disability ratings will also receive a proportional exemption based on their rating (e.g., a 70% rating will get a 70% exemption).
Surviving Spouses: The exemption can carry over to a surviving spouse as long as they hold the title to the home, reside there permanently, and do not remarry.
Income Limits Removed: For veterans who are 100% disabled, the income limits associated with the current property tax credit will be removed for the new exemption program.
For the most accurate and up-to-date application procedures, contact your local County Assessor's Office or the Missouri Department of Revenue directly.
