Meanwhile, Hurts, born in Houston, played high school football at Channelview High School, where he became a standout dual-threat quarterback. His Texas roots shaped his competitive edge before he went on to play college football at Alabama and later Oklahoma.

Here are both football stars at The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award banquet in TYLER in 2016.

The Lone Star State’s deep football culture played a crucial role in molding both quarterbacks into the stars they are today, with each now leading an NFL franchise—Hurts with the Philadelphia Eagles and Mahomes with the Kansas City Chiefs—to Super Bowl contention.
