Over the years, we have have gone through three different iterations of decor and looks, changed and updated with the times. While I love new construction (both our last two homes were built new), I have always loved the idea of living in an established home. That takes time to accomplish. Every room has a memory and a story, every window offers a view out to the garden or a mature tree.
Our family is grateful for this house we call home, many good years and many incredibly hard ones. We bought our youngest son to this home, had Edyta Simmons’s wedding here and celebrated countless birthdays, holidays and gatherings. The Platinum Group Real Estate Team even had its beginnings in this house!

We moved into our newly built Toll Brothers home in Shenstone Farm in Leesburg on February 5th, 2004, soon to be twenty years ago!
Boy has life changed since that time, we raised our children here, built a business here, enjoyed many happy memories, parties and holidays and endured many heartaches as well.
In the early years, I spent a lot of time painting, buying furniture, and working to make our house a home. It felt cold when we moved in, too big and not cozy. I wanted to have an established home, that was my vision. Where I can sit on my rocker or peer out from a window and see flowering bushes and mature trees. I wanted my children to know the feeling of coming home, that safe space full of love, comfort and security. I believe we have that.
So now what? I spent the last few days (hate the cold) enjoying being home and watching hours of YouTube. My favorite thing to watch is what else, all things house and home decor.
If you had to describe what your house should make you or your guests feel in regards to design, what would it be?
My mind is brimming with ideas this morning. Replacing a few pieces, moving furniture around to different rooms, painting a few pieces? I love many of the things I own, some things feel dated and need a refresh. Styles have definitely changed too. A piece of me says, I don’t have the time for this (real estate spring market) but nothing has to be done now. Dreaming and anticipation is exciting and fun.

Every day in real estate is an adventure, especially in Loudoun County! Today was a super fun day, check it out ⤵️ First stop 🛑 was a listing appointment at a property in need of total rehab! @zach_twigg accompanied me on the appointment and we discussed strategies and what to do (and what not to do) with our seller to prepare this horse farm for sale. There’s even a structure from the Civil War on the property, how cool! The day got more interesting as we accompanied a client to an auction of three parcels in Western Loudoun. First they were auctioning ‘metal’ 🧲 and then the real estate. A couple of the guys attending the auction were teasing with me about my dress (business professional), they could easily tell I wasn’t there to buy metal. By the way, listen to the auctioneer! This is what I hear when I don’t want to listen to @karen.w.cooper, lol! 😂😂 (what is that guy saying!!!) I spoke to two different investor clients today about a brand new brewery in Round Hill, Va on 64 acres that just hit the market and listed by my colleague @david_poole with Berkshire Hathaway.
