WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO BUY REAL ESTATE? I get asked this question a lot. The best time to buy real estate is years ago. You rarely hear people asking, "when is the best time to get into the stock market." In other words, you should avoid trying to time the market. There will always be ups and downs in any market, but real estate has proven time and time again that it can be one of the strongest investments in a person's lifetime and one of the greatest contributing sources to one's net worth. If the cost of borrowing money is your main concern, "marry the home" sooner and "date the rate" later. You can always re-fi if the interest rate reduces, but you cannot reclaim the years of appreciation and equity-building that you missed by procrastinating. Another pro of home ownership, you get to claim the interest you paid against your taxable income when you own.
