Your first days moving into your new home can be so exciting. Here are some of the things you should make sure to do as soon as possible once you've closed and started moving in:

📌 Secure your home.... Change the locks and any codes to garage doors, security systems, etc

📌 Purchase or review your home warranty.... Make sure you know exactly what's covered and how to make a claim

📌 Connect the Utilities.... Check with local providers to see what type of verification you need, the setup process, and how far in advance you should schedule turn-on

📌 Check smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.... Most experts recommend changing the batteries in detectors every 6 months

📌 Use your inspection report as a to-do list for maintenance.... Make sure you address items that could cause issues later to prevent more costly repairs

📌 Refresh the paint.... It will be much easier to paint before you start move in, so you don't have to work around furniture

📌 Refresh the flooring.... Have floors steam cleaned before moving in furniture and consider replacing old carpet

📌 Find the circuit box and emergency shut off valves.... Label individual circuits and valves by room or appliance so you don't have to struggle or waste time in an emergency

📌 Create a maintenance schedule.... General rule of thumb, budget for around 1% of the home's purchase price each year for repairs

📌 Drop by the home once in each of these 3 times: morning, mid-day, evening/night. This will give you an idea of typical traffic, neighborhood activity, and any potential noise issues.

📌 Test run your commute to common destinations. See what it's like driving from the home to work, daycare, or anywhere you know you'll go regularly to see if its a commute you can live with.

📌 Find out how far away your home is from preferred grocery stores, restaurants, services, or other amenities you'll use on a regular basis.

📌 Even if you don't have kids, check out the local school district. The quality of the school district (although the school district could always change in the area!) can impact the future value of your home when it's time to find the next buyer.

Bread is a staple in almost any home, but store-bought versions often have extra ingredients and preservatives that aren't as appealing.

Here's all the ingredients you'll need to make your own bread at home!

- 3 cups bread flour (brands like King Arthur have limited organic ingredients you can feel good about!)
- 1.5 cups water
- 1.5 teaspoons yeast
- 1.5 teaspoons sugar
- 1.5 teaspoons salt
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Butter for pan
