We passed the plumbing rough-in inspection and this building is nearly ready for its slab pour.

Structural steel is expected to start later this week, and framing won’t be far behind.

Walking the site today with some of our project partners.

We’re grateful to them for believing in this concept early and investing in the future of Delaware Avenue. Now that construction is underway, it’s exciting to see the plan beginning to take shape in real life. Thanks for stopping by and being part of it.

On this former industrial site on Delaware Avenue, we are fitting a lot onto one acre: 32 apartments, two commercial spaces, and outdoor areas.

An early decision was to place the parking behind the buildings. That allows the storefronts and homes to engage with Delaware Avenue rather than lead with a parking lot.

The result is a more walkable street edge and a stronger sense of community within the site.

Now that all three buildings are underway, you can start to see how The Railyard will come together.

Meet Abraham from Green Solutions Landcare.

Abraham has been with Green Solutions for over 9 years and helps lead their construction division. Right now, he and the crew are working on the concrete footings at The Railyard on Delaware Avenue.

Footings are one of the earliest parts of construction, and one of the most important. Once the buildings are complete, most people will never see this work, but it creates the stable foundation on which everything else depends.

We appreciate Abraham and the Green Solutions team for their work on site.

Shining the spotlight on the design team behind The Railyard.

Paul Lea and Neil Dees of Studio A Architecture have helped guide the project from early design into active construction.

Paul brings decades of design experience, a practical client-focused approach, and a background shaped by hands-on residential construction from a young age.

Neil’s path began at BCTC’s Architectural Technology program, continued through service in the U.S. Marine Corps, and now includes pursuing his Master of Architecture at the University of Kentucky College of Design.

Together with the Studio A team, they’ve helped bring The Railyard to life.

One part of The Railyard I’m especially excited to see come together is the courtyard between the two front buildings.

We’re trying to create a place where landscaping, shade, lighting, and thoughtful details make people want to slow down and spend time there. Can’t wait to see this space take shape.

A big day on Delaware Avenue, seeing concrete go into the footer forms and watching The Railyard start to emerge from the ground. After years of planning, moments like this feel pretty special. Thanks for coming along for the ride. 🚂

Quick site update on Friday, May 15, sharing where things stand at the Railyard. There’s a lot happening at once, and Earl is working hard to keep everything moving forward.

We broke ground on a freezing day back in December. It feels a little different out here now.

After several years of planning, approvals, financing, design work, and a lot of persistence, The Railyard is moving. We really started construction over the last month or so, and the site is already changing fast.

It felt like the right time to launch this page and begin sharing the journey as this former industrial site becomes a mixed-use infill development with housing, local retail, and new life along Delaware Avenue.

Please follow along. I appreciate the support and the chance to share how this crazy idea is becoming a reality.

Today Green Solutions Landcare were installing rebar within the foundation trenches to create the structural steel cage that will strengthen the concrete foundations. Great progress on site.
