At this point, you’d have to pry me out of Lawrenceburg, KY. 🥃👏

I mean, living in the heart of bourbon country? It doesn’t get much more Kentucky than that.
Five reasons I’m not going anywhere:

🥃 Bourbon in our backyard. Having Wild Turkey and Four Roses right here in Lawrenceburg is pretty hard to beat.

🌳 Small-town living. Less traffic, slower mornings, and a little more room to breathe.

🍷 The local favorites. From afternoons at Lovers Leap Vineyards to grabbing a bite at Heavens to Betsy, there’s something special about keeping it local.

📍 The location. Lexington, Frankfort, and even Louisville are close enough for a day trip, but I still get to come home to my quiet little town.

🏡 The lifestyle. Beautiful countryside, rolling hills, and that feeling of being away from it all without actually being far from anything.

And honestly? I could keep going.

Lawrenceburg might not be the biggest dot on the Kentucky map, but it’s a pretty great place to call home. 🤎

Wondering what it’s really like living in Lexington & Louisville? Here’s why I think it’s worth the tradeoff. 👇

People are quick to point out that it’s overlooked, but that only tells part of the story.

For me, the payoff is in the day to day. It’s being close to Keeneland, having easy access to weekend bourbon trail day trips and college sports, and knowing I can spend a random Saturday at the Big Four Bridge + Waterfront Park (or grabbing coffee in the Highlands).

That’s the stuff that changes how a place feels to live in.

So yes, I get the criticism. I just think what you get in return matters so much more.

And fall is one of the best times to experience exactly what makes living here worth it.

A lot of real estate advice in Lexington & Louisville sounds true because there’s usually a little truth buried in it.

That’s exactly why some of these misconceptions stick around.

An online estimate can be useful, but it isn’t the same thing as understanding what a home could actually sell for in today’s Kentucky market. An inspection can uncover a long list of issues without automatically meaning the house is a bad buy. And a list price might start the conversation, but there’s a lot more strategy behind where that number lands and what happens from there.

Those little distinctions matter because real estate decisions rarely come down to one blanket rule.

I’d much rather explain the context behind something than have you make a huge decision based on advice that only tells half the story.

What’s it actually like living in Lexington & Louisville? You develop some opinions you’ll defend forever

I said Kentucky does “local pride” better than anywhere else, and I stand by it.

Between Keeneland season in Lexington (yes, we’re dressing up for races and making it a whole event) and the Saturday energy around Kroger Field, it’s basically a sport.

And then there’s Louisville—Derby week is a lifestyle, Bardstown Road stays the go-to for a good night out, and you can’t convince me there’s a better way to spend a weekend than grabbing a bite and walking Waterfront Park.

So yes, I’m officially dying on this hill.

What does a first-time homebuyer actually need from a real estate agent in Kentucky? 📚

Real estate school taught us how the process is supposed to work.

Real clients taught us what it feels like when that process is attached to someone’s savings, timeline, nerves, and hopes for what comes next.

You can study contracts and deadlines all day, but experience is what teaches you when someone needs more context before they can make a decision, when a question is really fear in disguise, or when the smartest thing you can do is slow the whole process down for a minute.

That part of the job can’t really be memorized.

Living in Lawrenceburg long enough means you already know what you’d miss first. 🥹

For me, it’d probably be those backroad drives when the leaves start changing, grabbing Mexican food at Don Pedros, or realizing that some of the best fall weekends are spent right here in bourbon country. 🍂🥃

I don’t plan on leaving anytime soon, but if I ever did, I already know I’d miss the slower pace, familiar faces, and being close enough to Lexington, Louisville & the lake without having to live in the middle of all the hustle.

Until then, I’m making the most of all the little things that make fall in Lawrenceburg so good. 🤎
