Some of you have experienced how particular I am about the construction of exterior decks. Check out the photo below, and you’ll see why. The floor system of this deck was merely nailed to the right/rear pier and, without warning, it suddenly collapsed one day. Fortunately, nobody was injured, but imagine what could have happened if the deck were installed twenty feet above grade.
