Like many of you, my colleagues and I want more information about the potential impact of data centers on our community and environment before we approve any new ones. Today we unanimously passed a moratorium on new data centers until Oct. 31 to give us more time to study the issue. As always, we welcome your feedback.

Two walk-on resolutions — a moratorium and another that initiates a zoning amendment — passed at the less than 15-minute June 9 meeting.

This project generated much discussion in the 3rd District, so I wanted to make sure everyone saw the latest development.

The Colorado-based developer had proposed a 7-story apartment at the corner of Woodland Avenue and East High Street.

Last week (June 1-5) was the LFUCG Senior Intern Program. On Monday I joined my fellow Councilmembers in Chambers to present on how Council works. We each met with constituents from our districts participating in the program, and it was a wonderful and engaging day.

On Friday the program held its Graduation and Alumni Luncheon. Congratulations to all of this year’s graduates! Decades of past participants and alumni joined to celebrate as well. This is a great program that continues to grow and include Lexington seniors from all across Fayette County.

Today, June 3rd, is World Bicycle Day!

Bicycles have been in use for more than 2 centuries and are an environmentally friendly and fun means of transport that I enjoy using as often as I can.

I’m grateful for the many cycling groups and communities that already exist in Lexington, and I’d love to see even more cyclists ride throughout our fantastic city!

I hope you can take advantage of this beautiful day and enjoy a ride on your bike this World Bicycle Day!
