In 1988 I crafted a press release for my new Russian Import company announcing the first importing of Russian Fur hats since 1938 with sales to Bloomingdales, and the J. AP wire service picked up the story and the phones began ringing from all across the country. Then came articles in the Christian Science Monitor, Chicago Tribune, Entrepreneur Magazine, Philadelphia Inquirer, Washington Times, an

d business soared. I applied for trademark protection and was awarded for the Brand ‘Original Rooskie”. Two years later the Soviet Union collapsed, trading partners disappears, banks froze the currency, and I was out of business. Between the height of success and the entrepreneurial scramble for a business alternative during those earlier years I learned the challenges of cross cultural negotiation, navigating import bureaucracy, trademark registry, management of profit and loss during high growth and avoiding financial disaster with quick entrepreneurial alternatives. During these last 20 years as GM of Lexington premiere Arts and Entertainment venue and restaurant, have gained a solid understanding of the basics of small business management, accounting, advertising, web promotion, copy writing, public relations and the challenging customer service that exists in the hospitality industry. Nothing prepared me better for navigating through tense situations at the negotiation table and deepening my understanding of buying and selling than those 12 years as a real estate broker in Lexington, Ky that preceded those first trips to Russia in 1987. In 2016 I returned to real estate affiliating with RE/MAX Creative. Even though much has changed in the real estate industry -- faster technology, fuller disclosure, and stricter lending -- the first phone call I got when starting again was familiar: "What's my house worth?" and "What do I fix before selling?"
