03/24/2020
Dear Stagers,
First, we wish you all and your families the utmost safety and health during this time. You’ve been our extended family since we opened our doors in 2014, and we’re so thankful to have your support through this pandemic.
For your safety, and for the safety of our community and our employees, due to Covid-19 we are shutting down operations effective today March 24, 2020 in adherence to the Shelter-in-place issued by Travis/Hays/Williamson County this afternoon as we are not deemed an essential business. It is very important for us all to do our part to Stop the Spread.
All scheduled stages and destages are indefinitely postponed until the shelter-in-place is lifted. As soon as we are able to get back to work, we will let you know immediately.
What this means for current stages:
We are freezing all leases as of 11:59 pm tonight, March 24, 2020, with the lease terms to resume once the shelter-in-place is lifted. – Ex: if you have 2 weeks remaining on a stage as of today, you will have 2 weeks remaining on your stage when shelter ends. When this time comes, we will reach out to confirm new dates for renewals, stages, and destages.
What we need from you to help us re-open smoothly:
Some (a lot) of our furniture is still out in homes, and due to safety concerns, we are unable to retrieve it! This furniture is the lifeblood of our business, and we need your help to protect it, along with the future of our company.
Occupied Stages:
Please, please, contact your occupied stages and remind them they are still responsible for our furniture during this time. Please also remind your clients that when operations resume, they will be responsible for any damaged furniture upon pickup. (Please understand, we really don’t want to charge people when everyone is hurting. We know things are tough. But we do need our furniture to still be in working condition when operations resume, and with our trucks not running, we are not in a position to replace stock at this time.)
Closing houses:
We understand most stagers have stated in their policies that houses cannot close with Furniture Escorts furniture inside. (The furniture then, by law, becomes the property of the new homeowner.) If a staged house closes during this time, we need you to let us know as soon as possible so we don’t lose our furniture. We will be able to pick up the furniture for this reason only, and will make the arrangements on a case-by-case basis. If for any reason the new owners move in before we are able to destage, or if the furniture becomes damaged, or the new owners are unable/unwilling to return it to Furniture Escorts, the client will be subject to replacement cost.
We know that things are moving quickly with this virus, and this is a complicated situation, but please reach out to clients and ask them to protect the future of our business, and yours, by carefully moving aside staged pieces so that we can use them damage-free once we re-open. We are a small family business and we must be able to pick up where we left off, and our inventory is precious to that endeavor.
We will continue to monitor email, and please feel free to reach out if there are questions or concerns. If anyone you know is looking to purchase furniture or home accents at this time, we would greatly appreciate you recommending them our furniture store in Liberty Hill, www.NorthwestFurnitureTX.com (Our storefront is currently closed to the public, but for now we are able to order pieces remotely, store them, and issue gift certificates for future purchases.)
We wish you all safety, health, and peace during this trying time. And we know that together, we will come through this. We look forward to working with you again soon.
All our best,
The Furniture Escorts Family
