Florida Realtors®’ Board of Directors today approved the association’s support of Amendment 3, wrapping up its Governance Meetings following the 2026 Convention & Trade Expo.

If approved by at least 60% of voters, Amendment 3 would increase the homestead property tax exemption, lower the annual assessment cap on non-homestead properties and make other changes to Florida’s property tax system.

Florida Realtors statement:

“Florida Realtors supports Amendment 3 because it offers voters an opportunity to provide meaningful property tax relief while strengthening Florida’s commitment to attainable homeownership. Florida Realtors encourages Floridians to learn more about it, and to vote Yes on Amendment 3 this November.”

With the increase of the homestead exemption to $250k, 60% of Floridians may soon pay ZERO property taxes.

The key here is that this applies to Homestead properties which are full time primary residences, not just boomers.

Once the exemption reaches $500k, it will fully eliminate property taxes for 92% of Floridians.

This is truly a historic opportunity!

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has called a special legislative session to pursue a plan that would raise the state's homestead exemption to $250,000, eliminating property taxes for an estimated 60% of Florida homeowners and potentially making Florida the first state with no property taxes.

President Trump is urging Congress to pass a ban on institutional investors owning single-family homes, saying homes should be for people, not corporations. Houston mother-of-two Raysall Wiggins, whom Trump highlighted in his State of the Union address on February 25th, was outbid by investors numerous times in her search for a home.
