In our April newsletter:

We mahalo our crews who worked swiftly ahead of last month's Kona low to clear streams, ditches and reservoirs, helping water continue to flow safely.

In March, we also welcomed students from Kaimukī Christian School to Makauwahi Cave, where they learned about its history and the area.

Several of the farmers at Grove Farm Market are participating in the Hawaiʻi Foodbank Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program through October 31, helping to provide access to fresh local produce for Kaua‘i kūpuna.

Plus, see the recap of recent events including the Women’s History Month Craft Fair and the Ola Nā Lima Mālama: Hawaiʻi Caregiver Conference hosted by the Alzheimer’s Association, Hawaiʻi Chapter.

Hawai‘i Foodbank has just announced that the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP) will officially begin on April 1 and run through October 31.

This program provides eligible seniors with access to fresh, locally grown fruits, vegetables, and herbs from participating farmers markets. It is a great opportunity to support local farmers while promoting healthy eating within our community. Each kūpuna, once approved, will receive $50 worth of coupons, with each coupon valued at $5.

Hawaii Food Bank encourages all eligible participants to take advantage of this seasonal program and enjoy the wide variety of nutritious produce available throughout the program period.

If you have any questions about eligibility requirements, participating locations, or how to apply, please feel free to contact them for more information.

Our March newsletter shines a light on the hardworking crews that moved swiftly when heavy rains and high winds swept across Kaua‘i, ensuring that ditches, flumes, waterways and reservoirs were monitored and maintained. In addition, last month included the inaugural Kauaʻi Student Film Challenge presented by the as well as Career Day at King Kaumuali‘i Elementary School.

Plus, read about a temporary lane shift on Kapule Highway supporting construction at Ahukini Business Park, creating space for local businesses to grow. We also celebrate a proud milestone as Grove Farm scholar Hope Newton secures a prestigious SpaceX summer internship.

Due to construction for the Ahukini Business Park, traffic on Kapule Highway will temporarily shift toward the Līhuʻe-bound lane between the Līhuʻe-side agriculture entrances and just before the Hanamāʻulu Bridge.

During this time, minor slowdowns may occur, and construction is expected to continue for about six months. Thank you for your kōkua!
