🦀 It’s one of the best times of year to go crabbing on the Oregon Coast!

September through December are often considered some of the best months for crabbing, when Dungeness crab are typically well filled out with a higher percentage of meat.

A few Oregon crabbing tips:

🦀 Time it right: Try crabbing during slack water, around high or low tide, when currents are less active and crabs are more likely to be out looking for food.

🦀 Bait: Raw chicken legs and fish carcasses are popular choices.

🦀 Size & s*x: Dungeness crab must be male and at least 5¾ inches wide.

🦀 Daily limit: The limit is 12 male Dungeness crab per day per license holder.

🦀 License: A shellfish license is required for crabbers age 12 and older.

Always check the latest Oregon Department of Fish & Wildlife regulations for current crabbing restrictions or closures before heading out.

🚨 BREAKING: A MARLIN HAS BEEN CAUGHT OFF DEPOE BAY!

This is an extraordinarily rare catch for the Oregon Coast. Marlin are associated with much warmer waters and are rarely seen—let alone caught—off Oregon.

Today aboard the Tacklebuster/Surfrider Sportfishing with Dockside Charters Sportfishing and Whale Watching and Captain Tyler Turner, the crew landed a MARLIN off Depoe Bay!

To put just how incredible this is into perspective, one captain who has been fishing out of Depoe Bay for more than 40 years said this may be the first marlin he has ever seen caught out of Depoe Bay.

We are still waiting for all the official details, including the species, size and weight, but one thing is already clear:

THIS IS A BIG DEAL. 🔥🌊🎣

A marlin caught off the Oregon Coast is rare enough.

A marlin caught off Depoe Bay? That is something the local fishing community may be talking about for years.

And yes…
