Today, we remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, the loved ones forever changed, and the first responders and everyday heroes who showed extraordinary courage. May we honor their memory with compassion, unity, and kindness. Not only today, but every day. We will never forget.

Be careful out there this week!

Heat Alert ☀️ Enjoy the weather today because things are about to change. US National Weather Service Omaha/Valley Nebraska has issued a heat advisory for Lincoln and Lancaster County from 1 p.m. Sunday, June 28 until 9 p.m. Tuesday, June 30. Heat index values up to 105 are expected.

Hot temperatures and high humidity increase the risk of heat-related illnesses. Take precautions to stay safe in extreme heat and closely monitor weather conditions as temperatures rise.

💧 Drink plenty of water.
👕 Wear loose, light-colored clothing and put on sunscreen when outside.
🔶 Limit outdoor activity to coolest parts of the day or evening.

🚗 Never leave children or pets in a parked car.
✔️ Check on family, friends, neighbors and pets.
❄️ Find air-conditioned places to cool off. During regular business hours, all Lincoln City Libraries, Lincoln Parks and Recreation centers are available as cooling centers. Victory Park Senior Center is also available.

For more local cooling center locations and extreme heat resources and information, see link in comments.
