In Loving Memory of My Father
Today, I said goodbye to my father.
He wasn't always an easy man, but he was a good man. I was the youngest of six boys, and growing up, I learned many things from him. Not always through easy lessons, but through lessons that stayed with me.
I know I wasn't always an easy son either, and our relationship wasn't always simple. But as I look back now, I understand that relationships between fathers and sons can have their challenges. What matters most is the love that remains, the lessons we carry, and the things that become part of who we are.
I started my life working in the family business. Eventually, I found the strength to step out on my own and build a company of my own. Looking back, I know I was able to do that because of what my father taught me. His knowledge, his work ethic, his strength, and, most importantly, his love helped make me the man I am today.
I am proud of the company I have built, but I know I didn't build it alone. A part of my father is in the way I work, the way I treat people, and the values I try to live by every day.
Losing him is especially difficult because 17 years ago, in this same month, I lost my son. Two of the people I have loved most in this world are now in Heaven together.
That thought brings me comfort in the middle of a lot of pain.
Dad, thank you for everything you taught me. Thank you for giving me the strength to become my own man, while always giving me a foundation to stand on.
You weren't always easy, Dad, and I wasn't always an easy son. But you were my father, I loved you, and I will carry what you taught me for the rest of my life.
Until we meet again.
Rest in peace, Dad. ❤️
