Last year we rescued some lilacs in December. We bare rooted them, covered their bases with wood chips, straw and sheltered them under remay. 3 of the smaller ones are showing live buds. The others are wait and see as they have been hard pruned. It's amazing what happens when you add a little positivity, know-how and trust a plants resiliency.

This is the beginning of our new lilac grove!
