If you’ve been through New Market, you know this building. The old hardware store that’s been closed for at least 7 years and is one of the first things you see when you come into town off 81. I just listed it for sale (again) yesterday. I have some ideas about what would be a good use of this property, but looking for other suggestions. It’s an 11,000 square foot building that could be repurposed but probably needs to be torn down. The lot is 1 1/2 acres. There are 12,000 cars that go by every day and plenty more that would come off 81. It’s tough to support a business with just locals. What could go there that’s not available between Woodstock and Harrisonburg that would pull customers off 81 and surrounding areas?
