Unbeknownst to me, while inspecting a vacant house in Little Rock this morning, Central Arkansas Water had notified the neighborhood that water would be turned off for several hours. My inspection was going well until I got to the second of four bathrooms…no water. I went to check the house water meter when I viewed this scene down the street. This crew, led by Eric Ambort of truck 641, was kind enough to turn the water back on so I could complete the inspection. I am very grateful for their professionalism and thoughtfulness.

Fellow Arkansans, with Arctic air and potentially significant wind chills coming in about five days, here are some things you might want to undertake.

Disconnect and drain hoses from exterior faucets and install insulated covers.

Slow drip interior faucets and open sink cabinet doors when it’s forecasted to be 20° and below.

Put de-icer in your windshield washer reservoir…and then operate the washer to get the de-icer fluid into the lines.

Pay your gas bill 😉, or top off your propane tank.

Dump water from exterior plant pots.

Buy a scarf for your pet.

Backup heat source.
