🚨 Heads‑Up for DIYers & Anyone With an Older Vehicle 🚨
Starting May 1st, gas stations will begin offering E15 gasoline (15% ethanol, 85% gasoline). Before you fill up, please know this fuel is NOT safe for every vehicle or engine.
👉 E15 is only approved for 2001 and newer passenger vehicles.
Using it in older cars, motorcycles, boats, lawn equipment, chainsaws, or other small engines can cause serious damage—including overheating, broken parts, engine failure, and even voided warranties.
⚠️ What to Watch Out For:
• Engine Damage: Older engines can suffer corrosion and wear.
• Small Engines & Boats: Do not use E15 in lawnmowers, chainsaws, ATVs, or marine engines.
• Lower Gas Mileage: Ethanol has less energy, so expect reduced fuel economy.
• Warranty Issues: Using E15 in non‑approved engines can void manufacturer coverage.
✔️ What You Should Do:
• Check your owner’s manual to confirm whether your vehicle or equipment can use E15 (often labeled as E15 or 88 octane).
• Be extra cautious during spring and summer when E15 becomes more widely available due to EPA waivers.
Just wanted to share this so no one accidentally damages their vehicle or equipment. Stay safe and keep everything running smoothly.
