I don’t teach my team how to convince people to buy houses.

I teach them how to ask better questions, know the numbers, tell the truth about the market and help people make really good decisions.

Sometimes that gets us a transaction.

Sometimes it means telling someone not to move yet.

I’m good with both.

Because if you build your business around being the advisor instead of getting the deal, the deals have a funny way of finding you anyway.

Agents: this is the business I believe we’re actually in.
Consumers: this is what you should expect from the person representing you.

Your first house does not need to be your dream house.

Ours sure as f**k wasn’t.

We barely got into it. We fixed it while we lived there. We stayed two years.

And it changed the entire trajectory of our lives.

I think sometimes we see where someone is NOW and forget there were 47 very unsexy steps before that.

This was one of mine.

So if you’re waiting until you can afford the perfect house, in the perfect neighborhood, with the perfect kitchen and enough room for the life you might have seven years from now…

Maybe don’t.

Buy the ladder. Then climb it.
