On this Rethink Waste Wednesday, we're talking about recycling plastic films at your grocery store!

Plastic films include bubble wrap, air pillows, produce bags, plastic shipping envelopes, grocery bags and more. As a literal rule of thumb, if the plastic film stretches when you put your thumb against it, then it can go in the plastic film collection bins typically found near the entrance of the store or near the deposit bottle collection area.

They should NOT go in your curbside recycling bins as they can interfere with machinery and contaminate the recycling stream.

Pro Tip: Designate a bag for acceptable plastic films and once it is full, put it in your car next to your reusable bags to return to the grocery store on your next visit!
