Nobody walks out of a showing thinking “those scuffs.” 🖊️

They just say it didn’t feel right, and they move on to the next one. Which is the hardest kind of feedback to fix, because it doesn’t tell you anything.

So here is what it usually is.
Five small things, none of them structural, all of them the things you stopped seeing about a year after you moved in:

The scuffs at hip height down the hallway.
The closet that reads as small because it is full. The counter that always has something on it.
The front step nobody has swept since spring. And the wall color you chose for your life in that house — which is exactly why it doesn’t work for someone imagining theirs.

None of that is a renovation. It is a box of magic erasers, some moving labels, four baskets, an hour at the front door, and the right paint.

That last one is the one people get wrong most often, so I put the six colors I actually use in a guide — codes, real rooms, and how to tell which walls are even worth painting.
