The proposed development is expected to serve moderate income seniors, 55 and older with affordable rents. It will offer 40 two-bedroom, one-bathroom units all with attached1.5 car garages, each designed with seniors in mind. Open floor plans maximize the amount of livable space, enabling those who may be downsizing from a larger home to retain their possessions. To encourage recreational activities and social interaction, amenities will include a community building, a shelter house, a community garden, and an exercise park for dogs offering benches, shade trees and accessible pathways for residents to enjoy. LW Associates, Frontier Community Services, and Community Investment Management Services plan to seek affordable housing resources from the Ohio Housing Finance Agency and if funded, will begin construction in late 2015 or early 2016. Frontier Community Services and LW Associates have broken ground on Hocking Senior Village, an accessible and enhanced community that continually enriches the lives of local seniors located in Falls Township, Hocking County.

“We are proud to partner with LW Associates as this community will help to meet the increasing need for affordable housing in Hocking County while providing much more than just a quality place to live,” said Rod Siddons, Chief Development Officer of Frontier Community Services. “This groundbreaking represents a commitment to the future and promise of tomorrow. We are excited to expand the reach of services for seniors in the area through the Hocking Senior Village Community.”

Hocking Senior Village will provide 40 two-bedroom apartments, each with an open floor plan and an attached 1.5 car garage. To encourage recreational activities and social interaction, amenities will include a community building, shelter house with grill, community garden, shade trees and accessible pathways, and an exercise park for dogs with benches. This project would not be possible without the support and collaboration from Falls Township, the City of Logan, and Mayor Fraunfelter. Funding sources include the Ohio Housing Finance Agency and U.S. Bank.
