Congrats to all who graduated from the 2026 Neighborhood Leadership Program through Long Beach Community Development LB Community Development

There was a small stage full of about two dozen people who devoted five months to the City. These three were my team. I am so glad I met these people!

It was hard sometimes but growth is hard. We all grew and we did it together.

This was the 32nd year and Melvin was the 900th graduate!

This program is facing possible cuts or even being cancelled due to the dire state of our city budget. I can confidently say the funds to run this program are well spent - because I know this class will continue to invest in our city and maybe more importantly, our direct neighborhoods. I am honored to be recognized as a leader and encouraged by my fellow graduates. If this program can continue, our community will be stronger. Our world needs connection - and this program provides it.

I stuck with it because of these three and I gained the most for it.

Sadly, my clients offer was not accepted. Right now this feels like ‘the one that got away’ but experience tells me it just isn’t their house. Theirs is waiting.
